The dentist health career from the past has come a long way into the dentist health careers of today. In every culture and every age of the past there has always been some type of dentist that is because humans have always had health issues with teeth and people haven’t always been conscious of the link between dental health and dental hygiene nor dental health and overall wellness.
The dentist health career today continues to expand from past research and current research. The dentist health career also continues to expand with the inventions of oral care machines and dental tools as well as dental resources and dental materials. For example dental health materials to fill oral cavities and dental tools to perform a dental root canal.
The dentist of today is much more advance than the dentists of the recent past two hundred years. With dental schools and dentist research groups and dental associations, dental research can be shared and dental schools can be standardized in their dental education. Dentistry Health today is described as an art and a science. A cosmetic dentist could be considered an artist in the oral health and confidence they create through making the perfect smiles, or reconstructing a child’s oral structure from a cleft palate to a normal oral structure.
A dentist of the past, say two or three hundred years ago, didn’t have the dental tools and resources, nor the dental school training and research available as the dentist has today. A dentist from the seventeen hundreds was not really a dentist at all. Most of the time someone with dental pain would go to the near barber to get a tooth pulled. So because the barber had small metal tools for cutting hair and shaving, a barber would also have used similar small tools for oral tooth extraction. In those past years there wasn’t much understanding nor any resources to maintain dental health. It wasn’t until medical discoveries of anesthetics in the eighteen hundreds that the work of a dentist became more of a career.
A dentist health specialist three hundred years ago, like going to a prosthodontal dentist for fake teeth, was more like going to the near jeweler. The near jeweler would make dental bridges from gold or other precious metals to fill in gaps where missing teeth. The jeweler near town would maybe make a gold tooth or two also, but nothing like today’s prosthodontal dentist work. Of course in the past the jeweler, filling in as a dentist at the time, did what he could with what he had to provide the dental help needed.
The dentist health field has been building on those past practices ever since. For example, metals are still used today for some oral fillings and part of replacing missing teeth. However, because of the invention of plastics and other materials that are conducive to the oral health of humans can now be used. Also, dental health tools and more refined health tools can now carve porcelain into teeth like structures for veneers and other dental uses.
It is easy to see that the dentist near you is a list in a long dentist directory from the past to the present and that dental health has evolved through time with better understanding of dental health and more dentist health schools and dentist health research.
